Goapele, known for her enviable bone structure and sultry voice, is a top-shelf goddess. “Play,” from her forthcoming album Break of Dawn, is a very quick way to take your thoughts from afternoon grind to late night slow wind. The video, which was directed by John Mazyck and Dahveed of Detail Shoppe, was shot in a graphic black and white. It showcases Goapele in a glamorous, high fashion themed setting that gives both an evocative and sensual visual to the pillow talk vibe of the song.
